Admission essay writing is an important part for getting admission in different colleges and schools. It is an exam of your knowledge as well as your written communication skills. It will also test your analytical and critical evaluation skill. There are some points which needs to be keep in mind at the time of writing an admission essay- 1) The knowledge about the subject is very important. It is necessary to read a lot of books and magazines not only on the subject but also you need to study different co related papers. It is very essential to understand that there is no alternative of depth knowledge over the subject. 2) The language skill is also very important in case of admission essay. This type of writing is quite different from the research paper. You don’t need to do depth research for writing an admission essay but the writing needs to be compact with good amount of information. The language doesn’t need to be scholarly but at the same time optimum usage of jargons are permissible as this will be read by the subject professionals. 3) In this type of essay the examiners do not expect very in depth research. But they always look for clear and novel thinking from the part of the students. The examiners like to see the thinking capability of the students and the way they analysis different issues. The analytical style and the evaluation techniques will differ in different cases. The result achieved may also be different in cases of different approaches but the examiners like to see the rational and logical approach in solving the different problems. So at the time of critically evaluate any matter the students need to do rational and unbiased thinking to arrive at any conclusion. 4) For proper type of expression and presentation clear thinking is necessary. Those who rush their thoughts into words often give expression to emotional outburst. Many faults in routine English are not so much due to ignorance of grammar but due to vagueness and inaccurate thinking. Firstly, thinking may be illogical, i.e. the first portion of the thought may not agree with the latter portion of the thought. When we say,” the districts within the Arctic circle are so cold that the towns are entirely uninhabited” we forget that where there is no habitation, there can’t be districts or towns. Similarly, when it is said,” a child which first saw day light last week was born without eyes or eye sockets” is illogical ‘because’ see in day light’ and ‘born without eye socket’ do not agree as far as their meanings are concerned. Secondly, the sequence of the words in a sentence might be wrongly made and so the meaning of the sentence might undergo a change. For example: a) I only spoke to him b) Only I spoke to him c) I spoke to him only The above quoted three sentences have got three different meanings. 5) Apart from those coherence and unity of the paragraphs are also very important for writing an admission essay.
