When writing about topics that where researched there is always a concern about the choice of words because you are trying to communicate information accurately. However this can lead to very dry reading for your audience if the words become too monotoned sounding. You do not want your writing read like a rattling off of information. This will stop most readers in their tracks and send them else where. To prevent this you need to put your voice into your writing so that the reader can connect with you the writer while at the same time understanding the information you are trying to convey to them. After all you want the reader to believe you know what you are talking about. There is a very simple 3 step process you can use to get this done. 1. Read the paragraph The goal here is to get a very though understanding of what the paragraph is trying to say. Use the dictionary if you have to but know the essence of the paragraph You can not communicate information properly or accurately if you do not fully understand it your self. 2. Explain the paragraph What we are doing in this step is putting our brain to work for us. Don’t worry it will have no problem with it because it does this all the time. Explain the paragraph to your word processor or an imaginary person. This is something we do all the time and is a natural process we all use We have all given someone an explanation of what something meant. When you did it you probably didn’t even realize that your brain was having to work. 3. Write what you just said The hardest thing about this step is remembering everything you said. Just write your explanation and you have automatically put everything into your own words and voice. This may sound strange but the process of explaining to others all ways produces our own words and voice. The first few times you do this it may seem a bit awkward but because it is such a natural process it will rapidly become second nature. The more you write the more you will become accustomed to this process and before to long you will wonder why you had such a hard time with the whole thing. At this point writing will become more of a joy and not a chore.
