Selling your articles online is one of the most profitable ways to earn an income online. Here are some ways to make money writing for the Internet with little or no experience. When I first started writing for the web, I was making only $20 a day. I was lucky to see that on a good day. So, I can understand how most writers will have a hard time making it in the writing game. Here are 5 tips for selling your articles online so you can make big money: Make a list of publishers- You can make more money online if you find a list of online publishers. These online ezines include; magazines, newsletters, magazines, greeting card companies and much more! Make sure to make a list of publishers including their contact details and what type of site they are. Make this list and make sure to write down the submission guidelines for each. Write one good article relating to the publisher’s site and blast that article to about 100 publishers. Sooner or later, one of them will accept it and send you an offer for your article. Read the submission guidelines carefully- Most writers get the door slammed in their face before they can plea their case because they didn’t follow the rules of the submission guidelines. Speaking from a publisher’s stand point, this is understandable. Nothing is worst than finding a writer who can’t follow the rules. Follow the guidelines down to a T. You might even get picked just because you did follow the rules. Stay away from low ball offers- In the writing industry, you will get low balled offers, such as $1-$2 per article. To me, this is very unethical and is close to slave wages. I don’t care if you are not the best writer in the world, no one should have to work for wages this low. What kills me about publishers who do this is; they want you to write a 500 word article and do the research for it. There are “content sites” like these popping up everywhere. Stay focused and stay away from them so you can keep your eyes on the prize, Brush up on your writing skills- This is the obvious, but some writers just don’t get it; no, you don’t need to be the best writer in the industry to make money, but the more you perfect your writing skills, the higher you can charge for your article pieces. I know some writers who are making $2-$4 per word! You can too, with a little experience and a good writing portfolio. Try to fish around in other writing forums to see if you can get some sound advice. Article marketing- This is a good way to also brush up on your writing skills and make money at the same time. Writing articles for article directories can get you a lot of traffic in the long run. So, if you are selling an article(s) of your own, you can promote those articles in your resource box when doing article marketing. This is a second money earner for me; I make about $100-$200 a day with this method. The key is to write 20 articles or more and submit them to fast approval sites. Article sites that take more than 2 days to publish is not a good idea, as you will get traffic in spurts and you need constant traffic. I’ve been shouting it for years, and I will probably keep shouting for many years to come. If you want to get some quality, free visitors to your website-You Need To Write An Ezine Article! You can go ahead and admit that secretly you been toying with the idea anyway. You’ve fantasized about one day checking your email and seeing your name in the table of contents of your favorite ezine. You’ve imagine what it’s like to know that hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people are reading YOUR words. And then there’s the glorious payoff: Some of these people will visit your website. People who through reading your article have already established a relationship with you and are therefore more likely to pay real attention to what your website has to offer. Ahh, what a lovely dream… But I’m telling you today to STOP DREAMING. Open your eyes, open up a new Word document and get started writing! Of course, you need something to write about. I suggest one of two choices: (1) Write about whatever subject your website covers. If your website is about Internet marketing, write about some of the ways your website suggests marketing online. If your website sells chocolate brownies, write about chocolate brownie recipes. If your website is a Drew Barry moore fan site, please send me the URL immediately. Just kidding! Actually you could write and article about Drew’s latest movie or her fight with alcoholism. The point is, if you have website-you have a topic. (2) Write about something you know. We all have areas where we excel, as well as subjects that interest us. For instance, I know a lot about ezine articles so I write about them. One of the benefits of writing about something you know is what I like to call the ‘Expert Factor’. If you write enough articles about a certain subject you will eventually get known as an expert in that field online. People will then trust what you say and will be even more inclined check out any websites or offers you endorse. In a nutshell-you gain credibility. And online that’s a GOOOOD thing! I’ll just go ahead and blurt this one out because I know it’s on your mind: Don’t worry about being an expert writer. Don’t shy away from writing ezine articles because you think you might misplace a few commas, semicolons or dashes. This is the Internet, not the Oxford Journal of Medicine. You’re not trying to win a Pulitzer Prize. Just write your article the best you can, re-read it several times, run spellcheck, and then go from there. I also recommend waiting at least half a day and then coming back and re-reading your article. This allows your brain to basically re-boot and you may find some errors you overlooked before. But don’t stress; You should see some of the typos I have made. I’m not going to bombard you with everything there is to know about ezine article writing today. This article was designed to just wet your whistle a little bit. To get you in the mood so to speak. To get you wanting to write and to give you ideas on what to write about. I assure you there will be other article in the future that touch on all the other aspects of ezine article writing. For now, though, I’ll leave you to your writing; Me, I’ve suddenly got a taste for some chocolate brownies… Did you find this article useful? Throughout recorded history we find that humans have the innate desire to adorn themselves and their surroundings. A house isn’t just a house but a home that expresses the inhabitant’s personality. A temple isn’t just a structure for worship but a construction for those who attempt to reach God; just think of the Gothic cathedrals-point up towards the heavens. A car isn’t just a means of transportation but a symbol of power or lack of it. And so it goes. But tattoos? Being more personal than structures and surroundings, we must look within to understand their popularity. Tattoos in America: Not all societies adopt tattoos as means of personal and communal expressions. In many cultures -especially illiterate societies-tattoos carry the visual symbols, icons, and signals of collective consciousness and memories they wish to preserve. In America, given their popularity today, we can see that tattoos are a continuation of the earlier generations’ symbols of rebellion, of being different, of presenting a contrarian attitude, of the nonconformist. In place of long hair we now have long nails, body piercing, and tattoos. Is it a fad? Given that the fad is lasting longer than a decade, we can say perhaps it is more than a fad; may be a much longer wave. Young people imitate stars, celebrities, and other famous achievers. In soccer we see a veteran player like David Beckham sport very visible tattoos on his neck; following Beckham’s example, the young striker Natasha Kai isn’t shy about displaying her countless tattoos. In boxing, tattoos are almost mandatory -perhaps as weapons of intimidation-since most boxers wear them. The fiercer the tattoo the fiercer the appearance of the boxer: just take a close look at Mike Tyson’s face. Tattoos are bridges between the body and the soul: For many individuals, tattoos are connectors between material reality and the spiritual realm, much like prayers. While prayers are somewhat restricted for the most for worshipping, or for matters of extreme dangerous situations, tattoos being fixed and constant are reminders of our aloneness in this world. A glance at them can ameliorate that feeling of dread. Sometimes it is difficult, if not impossible, to externalize a personal inner quest. A graphic depiction can do that for us as a way of telling others “this is what I am about.” For many, tattoos concretize their faith in some abstraction. Take for example patriotism, freedom, or love. These human emotions and feelings cannot be properly articulated, but they can be expressed easily with a tattoo of the American flag, the Liberty Bell, or bleeding hearts. Tats and Aesthetics: One can make the argument that a tattoo doesn’t have to justify anything-but beauty. Many of the Celtic, butterfly, dragons, flowery, and even weaponry tattoos are so designed and executed that evoke a feeling of awe and admiration. If a tattoo is well balanced, it is whole, and it has a splendor of its own, then we can say that it is beautiful. Must one have to justify beauty? Of course not, but keep in mind that quality must prevail; if enough quality tattoos are shown, then we are justified in calling this part of aesthetics: “body art.” Generational Reactions: While the public in general are tolerant and laissez-faire about tattoos, the generations in power (as in the power to hire, promote, and fire) are less inclined to accept the practice. Tattoos will be viewed as a vehicle of strangeness in an applicant; a visible sign that the individual may not be a team player, someone difficult to manage. This may not be true, but it is the way of corporate cultures. In fact, I’ve heard a human resources executive denigrate tattoos as “jail art.” Tats, Sense and Sensitivity: Common sense tells us to be sensitive to other people’s feelings, history, and culture. Likewise, tattoos should not be worn as to offend others. Political symbols and religious symbols are still taboo in America. Cosmic and zodiac expressions have become universal symbols and are looked on with sympathy. Conclusion: Like in any other human endeavors, taste, likes, and dislikes, tattoos have caught the imagination of the younger generations and are here to stay. While some are critical of the practice, most people are tolerant. And instead of looking for the negative, we should look for the positive gains that they (tattoos) can yield to the wearer, and also for the beauty that some of them contain. Retired. DC Universe: Last Sons, Alan Grant, 2006, ISBN 0446616567 Lobo is the meanest and most ornery bounty hunter in the galaxy. He is the sort of being who has no problem killing anyone who gets in his way. His next quarry, supposedly with a million-credit bounty on his head, is J’onn J’onnzz, Martian Manhunter of the Justice League. Despite Lobo’s lack of morality, he does have a code of honor, being scrupulously honest. He also has a crush on Darlene, a waitress at a burger joint on an asteroid. Meantime, somewhere in the interstellar middle of nowhere, an artificial intelligence called The Alpha hatches a plan to wipe out all life in the universe. When Lobo delivers J’onnzz, with Superman not far behind, all three are thrown in prison. But, this is not your average prison. The walls in Superman’s cell are impregnated with kryptonite; Lobo and J’onnzz are similarly trapped. The only thing that all three have in common is that they are the last of their race (in Lobo’s case, it was intentional). The Alpha plans to dissect them and use that emotional energy to create an invincible fighting force. Their release, and stopping The Alpha before it wipes out any more civilizations, depends on a crime boss named Xemtex. Lobo cut Xemtex’s brain out of his head, and it now controls Lobo’s space bike. Coming from a comic book “mentality” (for lack of a better word), it’s a very fast and entertaining read with plenty of action. It’s recommended, especially for those who don’t consider themselves comic book readers. In your APA Style thesis or dissertation, the reference list provides an alphabetical listing of all the sources you used to create your paper. When creating an APA Style reference list, which some people call a bibliography, you have to follow specific APA formatting rules, depending on the type of source involved. First, let’s discuss some basic rules about the reference list. AUTHORS. List the author’s last name, followed by the initials. If you have more than one author for a source, list each one individually, until you’ve listed the sixth author, then use “et al.” for any subsequent authors. When listing more than one author, use an ampersand (&) instead of the word “and” ahead of the final author in the list. INDENTION. After the first line of each source, indent each subsequent line about one-half inch, creating a hanging indention for each source. ORDERING. Alphabetize the entire list by the authors’ last names. If you have more than one source from an author, list the earliest source first. PUNCTUATION. Capitalize all major words in the titles of the works that you’re citing for journals, but not books. With longer pieces of works, such as books and journals, italicize the titles. Do not italicize shorter pieces of work, such as essays. I. Reference List Examples Next, here are some examples for listing various sources in APA Style. BOOKS. Include the year of publication, the book title, the publisher’s location and name, along with the author’s name(s). *Johnson, T. J., & Smith, X. Q. (2003). Economic growth in Africa. New York: Jones Brothers Publishers. ELECTRONIC SOURCES. List the author’s name, if known; date of publication, if known; title of the online article or Web page; volume or issue number, if known; date of retrieval; and Internet address. The first example is from an online periodical. * Johnson, T. J., & Smith, X. Q. (2004). Determining technology’s role in economic growth. Retrieved August 20, 2007, from (website address) If you’re simply referencing a standard Web page, use this format. * Tracking the Economy Web site. (2006). Report on technology’s growth. Retrieved May 16, 2007, from (website address) For sourcing an online lecture or presentation, follow this example. * Johnson, T. J. (2006). Technology’s role in the economy [PowerPoint slides]. Retrieved from (website address) GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT. Because such a document usually doesn’t include an author, list the governmental division in the alphabetical list. * Department of the Treasury. (2005). Economic growth forecast, 2006-2010 (Publication number 2005-10-0032). Washington, D.C.: U.S. Government Printing Office. PERIODICALS. When using a magazine or newspaper as a source, list the author, date of publication, article title, name of the periodical, and page numbers used. * Johnson, J. T. (2006, November 29). Governments invest in technology. New York Times, p. B1. A journal requires slightly different formatting. Be sure to include the issue number in italics ahead of the page number(s). * Johnson, J. T. (2005). Technology controls local economies. Journal of Economic Growth, 7, 423-427. VIDEO. If citing a movie as a source, list the producer, director, date of publication, title, country of origin, and studio. * David, L., Bender, L., & Burns, S. Z. (Producers), Guggenheim, D. (Director). (2005). An inconvenient truth [Motion picture]. United States: Paramount Classics. II. Citing a television show follows a similar format. * Jones, G. (Producer). (2000, Sept. 6). The nightly news [Television broadcast]. New York: Public Broadcasting System. III. Odd Situations SAME AUTHOR, SAME YEAR. If you end up with several sources from the same author, some of which were published in the same year, use an “a” and “b” designation to differentiate between the two sources in your alphabetical listing. * Johnson, J. T. (2006a). Technology in economy. Economist Magazine, 113, 17-18. * Johnson, J. T. (2006b). Economic conditions worldwide. Economist Magazine, 115, 23. SECONDARY SOURCE. If you’ve used a secondary source in your paper that references another work, you should refer to the original work and use a citation for the secondary source in the main text. In the reference list, however, only list the secondary source. IV. Finally, for additional information on formatting sources in a reference list, look at the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association or visit the APA Web site, where you’ll find some online resources designed specifically for formatting online sources. Brian Scott recommends using an APA formatting software to correctly write and format papers in APA Style, available at .masterfreelancer.com/apa-writing-style-software.php

The Reluctant Writer by Pamela White Since the age of 9, I’ve been a writer. I wrote secret stories, secret newsletters, and secret novels about solving mysteries with Nancy Drew during my first year of writing. I loved telling a story, dreaming up new ideas, places and people, and rereading what I had written. I just never wanted anyone else to read it. A few decades later, I was chatting on a message board for writers about how I struggled to send my writing out. I still submitted regularly but it was an excruciatingly difficult step for me to take…and I did take it, week after week. I hated that sharing my words made me feel so vulnerable. One woman wrote me back, not with advice, but with such joy in her tone. She told me she wished I could be in her writing group. Then I’d know that writing wasn’t hard but only exhilarating and wonderful, easy and something anyone could do. I dropped off the list. While I’ve not found a way to make it perfectly easy to share my writing with the world, I have learned a new skill set that has pushed me forward, even as I wanted to retreat back into my shell. Thanks to some coaching, some tears, and lots of meditation (not medication!) I now write regularly, love to send it out for publication and cheer myself on as I cash the checks. So for all the other reluctant writers hiding out there, I want to share the steps that have worked for me plus advice from writer friends. 1. Ask the all-important question: “What’s the worst that could happen?” Basically, it’s a rejection letter or perhaps total silence. Yes, it might hurt, but the person who chooses not to publish your short story doesn’t know you so don’t take it personally. It may feel personal, but it isn’t. And, believe it or not, this editor will forget your name out of all the submissions received over the following year and will not hold your previous unwanted submission against you when reading your future submissions. 2. Plan ahead. I learned this from a coach. I hired her to guide me through cleaning out my home, but ended up learning how to boost my writing. Sit down on a Sunday evening and think about what you want to write about. Make an educated guess about how long it will take to write the introduction, short story, entire article or book outline. If you think it will take three hours, then pick a day that week when you will have three free hours to work on it. If you pick Tuesday at 8 a.m., then organize your work space the night before. Make sure you have your address/phone book, pens and pads of paper, resource books, email addresses and anything else you need to be successful. Most important, keep your appointment to write that you’ve set with yourself. 3. Set a deadline. If you have trouble getting a free hour or two in the midst of your busy life and missing your self-imposed appointment to sit and write your article on Tuesday morning would make you feel worse than if you’d never made a plan, try another approach. Set a deadline for Friday at 8 p.m. each week to write 1000 words in your novel. This allows you to snatch at free minutes or work during a surprise nap (one that your child is taking, not you) throughout the week. 4. If you have too many ideas and too little time to write them all out, engage a friend or spouse to help you decide which one is the first project. Have your friend ask you, “Which one feels like it would be the most fun?.” “Which one would give you the biggest pay off (in terms of money, happiness, publicity)?” “Which one have you done the most prep on?” If you keep picking the same topic, then clearly that’s the one you should begin with. If you’re still having trouble writing with abandon, then make an appointment for an uninhibited free-writing session. Pull out your notebook, and, at the top of a page, write “What is keeping me from coming out of hiding?” Then let yourself write for ten minutes, or three pages, or until you find yourself explaining why you feel a need to continue to hide your writing. Then recognize that while your writing makes you feel vulnerable and that it is hard for you to write your truth, it would be more painful not to.
