A comparative essay is one of the few requirements for students to complete a course. Students are often asked to do paperwork, write essay, or do a book review. As a student, you will be compelled to pass all your requirements on time. Otherwise, you can not move on to the next level, or worse, you won’t be able to graduate. The purpose of this article is to give you tips on writing an essay, particularly, comparative essay. Let’s assume that I am a student. Just like all paperwork, I need to research on the given topics before I write my essay . I need to pool necessary information for reference. Even if I already know a lot about the assigned topic or topics, it is still best to have other references especially if it’s an academic paper. As soon as I have all the information I need, I can now write my essay. The next thing that I will do is to write essay draft. Organizing thoughts can take a while, but if you already have a lot of things to write, then it would be best to write them all down and arrange them later on in the final draft. For a comparative essay, I need to compare and contrast the given topics but I have to write a brief general introduction first. In this case, when I write my essay, I should not be biased. I have to present both topics with factual references. For a lengthy and substantial content, I can also give personal comments from time to time. There are actually two styles of presenting arguments. I can present one argument at a time or present them together. For the first style, I need to write essay with one argument’s pros and cons at the beginning, and follow it up with the next argument. After writing down facts and opinions about the two topics one after the other, I still need to write a good essay closing. This is done by writing a convincing summary at the end of the paper. On the other hand, another style I can use to write essay is I can compare and contrast them together at the same time. For example, instead of focusing on one argument on the first part of the essay, then the other one on the latter part, I can choose a point of comparison between them and state the pros and cons together. Just like the first type, I also need to give a proper closing. So it’s not that hard, yet not that easy either. All you need is some organization skills, back it up with critical thinking, then add some artistic elements and there you’ll have a comparative essay that sure deserves an “A”. Actually, in this modern age, you wouldn’t be surprised to know the many benefits you can get from the internet. Other than useful information that you can use as references, writing tips and guidelines, there are also a lot of writing companies where you can hire a writer to do the job for you. There are a lot of websites that have writers who can write essay and other paper requirements. With all these options available, there is no way that I will fail.
I can sit here all day giving you tips and hints on headlines and phrases that sell. But none of it will do you any good if you just plain hate sitting down at the keyboard. If you can’t stand writing, you’re in good company. Most of us feel the same. I once asked a high school English teacher how many of her 300 students liked to write. “Oh, about 9 of them,” she said. Everyone from Mark Twain to Bart Simpson has faced a blank sheet of paper for hours with no idea of what to put on it. Well let me give you a few ideas from my office of professional writers. In the world of non-fiction writing, being a professional doesn’t necessarily mean being a great writer. It does mean you have to be able to conjure up great copy every single day, even when you don’t feel well or aren’t in the mood you can visit .insomnia-battle.com The first step is just to get something on paper–anything! And I do mean anything. Just start writing down whatever comes to mind. If you can’t think of anything, write “I’m sitting here and I can’t think of anything to write.” Yes, that sounds pretty stupid. But it’s exactly the technique a lot of top writers use to get the creative juices flowing. Next you’ll find yourself typing “I need to write a sales letter to promote my new software. Its software to help people gets organized. Most people have lots of information, but they can’t remember where they put it. This software has people organize their information in a system that makes it super easy to find, in just seconds.” Wow! You’re writing, you’re telling your story, and best of all, you’re not worrying about being bad because you know you can go back later and change it all. One top writer copies and pastes favorite lines from other sources (like the client’s web site.) Then she rewrites those sections in her own words so that they are completely original. That’s enough to get her going. Next she fills in additional fresh copy between the blurbs she has already completed. Even on days when she would rather be anywhere but behind a computer, she cranks out first rate copy in record time. Another method is to just start talking or visit .101-save-money.com Talk into one of those little tape recorders you get at Radio Shack. Pretend you’re telling your best friend, your mother, or Paris Hilton all about your big idea. Go into all the details. .fire-itup.com .101-happy-relationships.com Talk it all out. Later, go back, listen, and take notes. Your notes will be the start of your email message. Don’t type very well? 60 percent of North Americans can’t type. Hunting keys often makes writing frustrating if not impossible. Follow in the tradition of a great many very famous writers. Pick up a cheap ballpoint pen and write down your ideas with the good old handwriting you learned in second grade. Then have someone type it up. The key is to just get something, anything, on your computer screen or on paper. Once you have that, start to edit. The copy will take on a life of its own and the writing will come easier. Or, simply hand your first attempts to a professional writer. Most can churn your notes into polished copy faster and cheaper than they can write entirely new copy.
Writing articles from home is a good way to make money online. If you can read and write at a basic 8th grade level, then you are qualified to earn a living as an online writer. The problem many writers face today is the enormous amount of writing scams and the Internet “writing sweatshop” that plagues many new writers. To truly learn how to make money writing online, you have to be able to advertise yourself as least a little. Marketing yourself as a writer is more about building a client list. Here are some ways you can make earn cash writing articles on the net: Publishing Sites- Many traditional firms that once use to operate in the typical ‘brick and mortar’ bushiness are now moving to the Internet. You will be able to find top magazines conducting their business on the Internet. What this does is make it easier for writers to send in their article inquires to editors of these magazines. Writers should be warned about using this method to earn money as it is important to work out the payment of each article before agreeing to create content for the site. This is when contracts come in handy, and freelance writers are starting to understand this. Sweat-Mill Publishing Sites- The reason many publishing sites get referred to as “sweatmill” shops is because they pay their writers little to nothing. Many of the top article writing sites on the market today is, ‘Associated Content’. They pay their writers $2-$3 an hour, which should be considered an insult to any serious writer (although I don’t see any problem with this method of earning money writing online if you are a new writer and just starting). If a marketer knows how to market themselves right and build a client list, they can easily get paid ten times more for the same article. No freelance writer should make under $20 per article. Even if you are not the best writer in the world, you deserve more than $2 per article. Selling Pre-written articles- One of the easiest ways to earn money on the Internet is selling pre-written articles. Freelance writers are all too familiar with the ‘dry spell’ when they don’t have any writing jobs or clients to not request their services. The best to keep being able to make money is finding forums and sites to sell your articles. There are ways to do this: Forums- Popular forums are the best way to find webmasters who are willing to dish out money for unique content. Most forums come with a content marketplace where people can trade, buy and sell articles. They are pretty good and effective. The key is finding a good forum and creating the perfect headline to get the attention of potential buyers. There are plenty of writers who are able to sell content at forums for over $1000 a day or more. Content Marketplaces- Many writers who may not be too good at marketing themselves for writing jobs will use content marketplaces to sell their articles and/or content. There are not that many content marketplaces to choose from, but a couple that have a high page rank and a lot of visitors is Constant-Content. One problem many writers face is that fact that Constant-Content is overcrowded and unless you write on hot topics (which seem to change every couple of weeks), then your articles run the risk of just sitting on the site without making a sale. Online story writing is for one and all and not only the prominent people in society. Technological innovations like computers, Internet, and audio and video images have made it possible for all of us to capture the finest moments of our life. This article will give you some basic tips that will help you write your memoirs more easily. When you take up online story writing, it is important to decide what you are going to write about - your travels, or people you’ve met, incidents you’ve seen, good and bad experiences you’ve had or social changes you’ve witnessed. Once that is decided, you will know exactly what incidents to focus on, thereby avoiding unnecessary details. When talking about your life story online use a lot of descriptive and evocative words. Avoid being vague and leaving things to the interpretation of your audience. Try to use language that conjures up an image in the minds of the readers. This will elevate their reading experience to a whole new level. When writing your online life story, choose short sentences over long-winded, protracted ones. That helps to speed up the pace of the story. With too many long sentences, the reader might get too bored and feel like giving up half way. Be extremely particular about maintaining consistency in the tone of the language, accuracy of grammar, punctuation and syntax. The greatest idea can get lost if caught in these fine details. You want your readers to be hooked on by your online life story, not point out grammar discrepancies. And last, but not the least, review what you’ve written. Once you’ve written something, leave it for a while and come back after a few days to read it. Does it say exactly what you wanted it to? Many times people find that what they’ve written is very different from what they think they’ve written. This tactic helps you review your work with a fresh perspective.
In a monsoon evening, he alongwith his two three friends was waiting for the train, which connects the city to his native, some 150 Kms away, the train is due to arrive in 5-10 minutes. Since it is a connecting train, lots of commuters gathered in the platform for travelling to their homes after a day’s tiredness and disarray. All the people wish to be at their home desperately, as their kids, their husbands, their wives are waiting for them at their homes. Most of them work in the city as government servants, in private offices, small time sales persons, students, occasional travellers and the likes, their eyes impatiently stick on the tracks for the impending arrival of the train. They all experience the routine scuttle, odor, colour and patterns of the ordinary Indian railway stations, to most of them; these are part of their lives, for the last so many. Like in any other such places, the murmur of the flocks disturbs the tranquility. At long last, the train arrived at the station, all the commuters are hurriedly started to push through the door for getting ingress into the train and for an immediate arrangement of a comfortable seat. He and his friends were able to get accommodated in their seats in the crowded compartment as well, there were college students, boys, girls, middle aged aunts, smart guys, uncles, older gentlemen and all the similar kind, they as usual engaged themselves in their activities of reading, talking, gossiping and even some started to take a nap. He also involved himself in a conversation about various current events specially the ongoing IPL Premier League and the performance of different players, the tourney is reaching its conclusion. The sky was covered with clouds and it seemed to be in the brink of an impending rain, it is natural in the monsoon, the air carries the aroma of the soaked mud, presenting a romantic atmosphere, indicating that there is raining somewhere near, as expected, in 10 minutes it started to rain, initially small drops and gradually started to pour in from the sky with thunder and lightning, announcing the opening up of floodgates of the sky, the rain presented a scene of laying silky threads like small silver beams from the sky to the earth, people felt the cool breeze get into from outside the train. There was sitting an older gentleman with his son, he is young lad in his late 20s, he was sitting near a window, looking outside, he enormously thrilled to see such a climate, he often shouted to his father and loudly said, “Pappa, see the scenery outside, very beautiful, isn’t”, sometimes, he was clapping, laughing with joy, as if something strange happen outside the train, as if he sees the moving train and raining outside first in his life, his childish excitement amused the people around him. Seeing his enthusiasm and spirit insist the people to look outside; but they could not see anything novel, the same old scene, the dull, cold and cloudy atmosphere while it is raining, they often experience in the monsoon season, for the last so many years, in the morning and in the evening, all the same routine. They are also not in the mood to entertain themselves as they are very eager to reach at their homes, to see their kids, wives, husbands, elder parents etc. Amused by the lad’s enjoyment, some began to smile, some started to stare at him, as these were not expected from a grown up man at his 30, a saree clad girl smiled and grumbled to her friends; “think, he is mad”, her friends also smiled mockingly at him. But unaware and unaffected of this, he again and again exclamatorily cried with joy when he sees the houses and trees, which were moving backwards and then out of the sight, suddenly. Now the rain hits the earth with its full spirit, the wind caught its momentum and the rain water begun to enter the compartment, one by one every windows closed in, except one window, where the excessively delighted young chap seated. He did not shut the window, which irritate young gals and they angrily shouted; “pull the window down, please”, he neither heed to this request nor pretended to be heard. Some of the teenaged boys immediately offer their sympathy and helping hands to the girls, they shouted together; “Idiot, shut the windows immediately, or…”, they sprung towards him with rage. One gentleman even enquired the father, “how long he has been behaving like this”, even someone suggested; “such people should be kept safely, rather to let loose”, they thought he is mentally retarded and before making any harm to other people, he should be kept under control. Our commuter and his friends also started to move to this young fellow, not angered, but by amusement of what is going to happen, they did not enter the bandwagon, they were just onlookers, but just the anxiousness kept us to look at it. Seeing the raged people, the older man, his father started to explain to the people in the compartment; “Actually, we were coming directly from a hospital, he was admitted to a hospital and today morning he was discharged, he born blind and in last week only we could manage to get a pair of eyes and could operate his eyes, these scene is new to him, he sees this only from today morning, I apologize for his excitement, you may please forgive us”. Suddenly a quietness engrossed in the compartment, a shell shock mounted up on the faces of girls, boys and other folks, all the faces are lowered with heartrending guilt, all eyes are blinked with shyness, nobody utter a single word till the end of their journey, only the ‘chuck, chuck sound of the wheels breaks the silence ………………….
Champagne sabering, or as the French like to call it, sabrage, is one of those wonderfully theatrical procedures we just love. Some of our wine tasting challenges in 2009 have included sabrage. It is such an arcane activity we felt it warranted an article! For those of you who haven’t witnessed it, sabrage is simply the art of taking the top off a Champagne bottle with a Champagne sword. Although the process is centuries old, the sabre or sword these days is about the size of a machete and is blunt edged. Champagne sabering serves no useful purpose whatsoever, and is, in effect, just a bit of showmanship. One or two of the drier wine writers pooh-pooh this activity, citing it as unnecessary and overly showy. We couldn’t disagree more - wine, and particular Champagne, is all about celebration and enjoyment - you’d have to be pretty world weary not to marvel at the spectacle. The origins are disputed, but most concur that sabering began with the cavalrymen of Napoleon’s army (the Hussars), whose weapon of choice was the sabre. Post battle overseas, the Hussars would return to the cities and towns of France where grateful citizens would proffer bottles of Champagne. Being rough and ready types, the Hussars would unsheath their sabres, lop the tops of the Champagne bottles, and drink straight from the bottle. Health and safety of course wasn’t big in the 18th and 19th century. These days people are a bit more free and easy. I’ve seen (and heard) of sabrage being accomplished with samurai swords, skis, and in one case (I kid you not) a pen. Not only can you train in the art of sabrage, competitions are dedicated to it and many interesting videos are posted on youtube (check them out). There are inevitable mishaps as a sabreur, one of the best known being “ring bounce”. This happens when the sabrage action is not completed properly and glass is chipped off the annulus (glass ring) at the top of the bottle underneath the cork. Ring bounce has happened to us more than once. Unless they are seriously mishandled, Champagne bottles almost never explode under this process, due to the wine’s sturdy glass (necessary to contain the six atmospheres of pressure within the bottle). A final word of warning - there are those who feel sabrage is only dangerous if you are in the firing line. Whether you believe this or not, we’d recommend you don’t try this at home… Pip Martin manages and produces International, UK-wide and corporate wine tasting games and other specialist events for the corporate events industry.
I am going to chat briefly here about some product creation ideas. This is not going to be one, two, three, and if you are looking for step by step, this is the wrong article for you. I have written plenty of others that does that well. This is more like advanced brainstorming. Read this and if you take out just one good idea that you can use, you are ahead. So, you have perhaps been working on, thinking about, creating your own product. You have a little bit of an outline, but are stuck. Maybe you have written a few articles. But they are hard to crank out. You have hard time thinking about how they should be organized. Let me tell you from experience, that as you write more articles, as you write more books, you will get better at organizing things, you will get better at just letting the ideas in your head flow out. You will also start typing faster. Three months ago I typed at about 25 words per minute. Now I am at 50 words per minute. That makes a huge difference. Then, I had to think about an article before I wrote it. I mean, really think. Now, I pick a topic, introduce it, generally list a few points that teach about my topic, and then wrap the article up with a challenge. So think about this, if writing articles makes you a better writer, and being a better writer would give you more flexibility in creating your own product, what do you see here? I say write more. Write lots of articles. Keep a copy of them. When you are looking for good content for your book, go looking through your articles. When you need content for an email, go looking through your articles. Use articles as the backbone of your product creation process. As you write articles, you will become a better writer and that will show in your product creation. By the way, think you cannot write a 50,000 page book? Write 100 articles and you have between 40,000 and 50,000 words. What is the difference? What if you spent one whole day outlining your book so that you had 10 chapters with 10 subtopics each? Then wrote 500 words on each topic, article style? What if you wrote 10 of those sections everyday and submitted 3 of them to some article directories, and included in your bio that this article is an excerpt from your upcoming book? And then have them opt in to your announcement list? When you have 100 people on your announcement list, you will be real anxious to get the book finished.
