It wasn’t that long ago that the Internet was a place for sharing, a place where you could quite easily, happily (and not to mention legally!) download a variety of applications and utilities fit for a specific purpose. Nowadays, it would seem that the corporate monster has taken over transforming what was once a virgin playground into a massive sales pitch with everyone grabbing a piece of the action and saturating the net. As the years have passed, new idea’s and ventures appear giving birth to a whole new generation of entrepreneurs and innovative platforms such as blogs, forums, social networks and probably one of the biggest things this decade … Warez! Warez has had a massive impact on net users and their attitudes. I say attitudes because many warez users, in particular the younger generation, don’t actually see the problem with warez and are more than happy to browse the vast array of such sites, registering with one after another in the hope of searching and finding something new and exciting to download! The fight More recently however, the authorities and in particular the media giants have began waging war on such sites and the people behind them, and in some cases pursuing those utilising the sites, however my personal opinion is that although they may be making an impact on a small scale it is seriously unlikely that they will win the fight outright for some time to come!. It would also appear that after attempting (and I mean attempting) to go straight to the organ grinder and shut these sites down they quickly realised the task ahead, not to mention legalities, so changed their tactics and tried targetting those using the sites. Both attempts failed miserably leaving egg on the faces of those responsible for the attack. However, while it may be true that the first major campaign against warez and general copyright breaching was not as successful as the ‘authorities’ would have liked, make no mistake that they will be back - and this time with the backing and co-operation of your ISP. The big boys of media are loosing a great deal of cash and so it’s not without drive that they move forward through the courts and go down the ‘incentives’ route attempting to make everyone responsible, right from the YouTube’s and P2P’s to the ISP’s and it’s users. In reality, all it takes is one change or addition to the law, to make everyone involved in the electronic transferring of copyright material to be responsible for their part of the transfer, either uploaded or downloaded (this then comes down primarily to the ISP!). Other countries have their own laws regarding copyright infringements and hosting files, some of which do not forbid it or at least don’t recognise such therefore the fight there is probably a different one (until your ISP notices you downloading it in a country which is covered!). That said, I have been confused for some time now as to why people find Warez so lucrative and although I can understand the ’something for nothing’ mentality I was never truly able to justify the risks involved in Warez. True is the fact that movies and music lure the majority of down-loaders, though I often find that the vast majority of Internet users complain that their computers run slow or become unresponsive only to find that they have contracted an endless array of ad-ware, spy-ware and viruses through browsing the first warez site they come across. As soon as they have functionality back and they’re off to the warez sites again! The Alternative? - Works For Me! I found out about ‘freeware’ some time ago and have admittedly came across some truly shocking examples of it, although I have also been stunned by the level of commitment and skill amongst the freeware world. The term freeware is often associated with simple or inadequate solutions and rarely used by the home user, although the vast majority of freeware is well written, compiled and tested thoroughly. I personally and professionally have used freeware for many years now and know of many who also followed suite and admittedly, whilst we have the odd clanger filtering through there are 10 great titles which follow it!. Put it another way, freeware authors do not have deadlines to meet, budgets to consider and senior management to please whereas the commercial authors do. In my opinion, this means freeware authors are, at the very least, producing work just as good as commercial authors, and often we find it is actually better!. Freeware can often fit a particular need whereas commercial software can over-complicate the matter offering 10 tools when we need only 1. With all the hype of the authorities cracking down on those sites and individuals who participate and gain in illegal file sharing and distribution could it be that freeware is now the sensible alternative? freeforallsoftwares.blogspot.com snaik4.blogspot.com
Book marketing dynamo John Kremer had many tongues awagging at the Erma Bombeck Writers Workshop after his presentations on the Amazon.com book launching strategy. The author of 1001 Ways to Market Your Book discussed the tactic of enrolling joint venture partners to help catapult your book, if only temporarily, onto a bestseller list. He also did a special session on using viral video and attracting mega-traffic to a website. Many of the attendees were incredulous and didn’t see how the ideas could apply to their books. That’s because, I think, they were getting too caught up–perhaps even overwhelmed–by the details and missing out on the big picture. Here’s a way to look at John’s lessons–and your book project–in a whole new light. Big Picture=Your Vision For Your Book Before you look at the lessons you must have a clear vision for what you want from the promotion of your book. Do you want more speaking engagements? Have you self published and you want to attract an agent or traditional publisher? Do you want to attract more clients? If you don’t know what you want it will be harder for you to choose which tactics will be right for you or even know how to gauge their success. Once you understand your vision, it will be easier for you to see that… Each Tactic is a Part of a Bigger Process This means that each tactic you employ will not end when the tactic is done. Ideally it should lead to something else. Let’s take the Amazon.com launch strategy as an example. I overheard many writers in the room asking each other, “What good is it to have my book be #1 on Amazon.com for only an hour?” Well, if your marketing of your book goes no farther than making this one thing happen, it won’t do you any good. But if you take that ranking, write a press release about it and send it out to the media, then highlight it on your website and even perhaps on subsequent covers of your book, then you’re parlaying that #1 ranking into further promotion and more attention. Throughout this process you will also be… Developing Relationships John Kremer insisted that this was the real key in executing your marketing strategies. If you do it well you’ll be making connections with many partners who own their own lists and have similar interests to yours. If you hire someone to execute an Amazon.com launch for you, Mr. Kremer pointed out, you miss out because you won’t get to develop these relationships. If you nurture and maintain a connection with the partners who launch your book, you’ll be able to work with them again in the future to launch other books, products, workshops or even your services. Again, it’s about the big picture. Too many writers might do a launch and never contact their partners again. That would be such a waste. Think Creatively You would think as writers we wouldn’t have to be reminded to think creatively, but from what I overheard at the conference it seems a necessity. Mr. Kremer showed us many instances of how video is used to promote on the internet. Again, I heard writers say “I don’t see how that would work for me.” Understand that when you think that way, you’re closing yourself off to possibilities. Sometimes all it takes is a little imagination to take an idea and stretch it to fit your situation. Try this. Sit down with a sheet of paper and answer this question: if someone were to hand you $1,000,000 to write out a 5 minute concept for a YouTube video for your book, and you could make it as silly as you wanted, what would the concept be? Don’t think too much, just write the most ridiculous thing to come into your head. Play with the ideas. Once you have something written, see if you could (with a few tweaks perhaps) execute it in real life. If you don’t like it, scrap it and try another. See? You’re already on your way to trying something completely different in your book marketing! Of course not every marketing tactic will be right for you, but it’s up to you to think outside of the box and see the possibilities. And who knows? Maybe your book will stay on the bestseller lists a lot longer than you planned! © 2008 Sophfronia Scott
I’m sure you agree with me that career and creativity are two of the central defining aspects of our lives as vibrant, happy, prosperous human beings. When they exist in harmony, and in healthy a relationship to each other, they contribute to our sense of significance and the energized and inspired state we refer to as “zest for life”. One of the things you’re really going to love about this article is that it outlines four powerful metaphors that you can use to clarify your perspective on your career and creativity, and forge a harmonious relationship between these two central life-facets for a happy, meaningful and prosperous life. But before we get to those powerful metaphors, a bit of background and context. Most of us spend a huge chunk of our precious life-hours in activities directly or indirectly related to work. Yet few people plan, visualize, or craft their careers or career transitions with as much care, awareness, and dedication as buying a car, painting the house, or going on holiday. Humans are natural creators. We all aspire to nurture our great ideas from their infancy, through the shaky days of toddler-hood and puberty, and to finally to see them living as independent and appreciated creations. Whatever else we are creating, whether in the artistic, scientific, technical, or other domains, we are also as a side-effect creating meaning within our own lives and in the world. This in turn adds to our sense of significance and our zest for life. Our careers are themselves powerful sources of creative opportunity, and forces for creation. But most aspiring creators soon come up against internal and external obstacles which seriously limit the chances of their creations surviving or flourishing as significant entities in the world. Why use metaphors? Metaphor is a powerful creative mind-tool. Perhaps it is the most powerful, as it forms the basis of many of our other creative tools such as picture, story, symbol, and creative thinking. A metaphor is simply a statement or reference relating one thing or situation to another seemingly unrelated thing or situation. Metaphors form such a natural part of our language and thinking that we often do not notice them. But the metaphors we use have a profound effect on how we view ourselves, our lives, our careers, and our organizations. They also influence the outcomes of our ventures. For example, a CEO who sees herself as the general of an army is likely to have a very different leadership style to one who sees herself as the conductor of an orchestra. She is also likely to build a very different kind of organization with very different results. Metaphors are useful for making information more palatable to our minds by allowing us to organize and structure separate bits of information into meaningful, coherent, and satisfying frameworks. The four metaphors I present in this article look at four possible relationship between career and creativity and conform to an overarching metaphorical theme of creating a piece of art such as a painting, a story, a sculpture, or a song. THE FOUR METAPHORS 1. Career as Paintbrush: The first metaphor refers to using the elements and resources of your career in a creative way to bring about value for your clients, employers, the target market, and other stakeholders. Here the elements and resources of your career are used as artistic tools and resources, and would correspond metaphorically to the painter’s paints and brushes, the singers voice, the musician’s instrument, or the writer’s pen. 2. Career as Painting: The second metaphor relates to applying your creativity to design, craft, and create your ideal career. Here your career itself becomes the art-form, similar to a painting or sculpture. It is the object or artifact to be created. One benefit of seeing your career as a work of art, is that a creative process can be used in its crafting. 3. Career as Artist’s Patron: The third situation is where your career serves as a patron of your artistic or creative endeavor. Here, the person’s creative pursuits might not be directly related to her career, as in the case of an accountant who is also a weekend sculptor, or an engineer who writes poetry. So what exactly is the relationship of the patron (career) to the creative endeavor? I believe that in its most healthy and harmonious form it is a reciprocal relationship where the career, as patron, supports the creative endeavor financially and materially, and the creative process and products energize and inspire the career, giving it an added significance and meaning. 4. Career as Artist’s Model: The fourth and final metaphor refers to using artistic modes such as storytelling, collage, poetry, and art-journaling to reflect on and enhance your understanding, inspiration and engagement with your career. Here your career serves as the subject of your art, in the same way as a painter’s model or landscape might serve as the subject for a painting, and a lyricist’s personal experiences might serve as the subject matter for writing a song. This kind of creative engagement with career as artistic subject is a valuable reflective tool for enriching your inner map of your career and the broader career landscape. This, in turn, can help you stay on-track for all the other career-creative goals embodied in the three previous metaphors. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION In summary, the four metaphors are: career as paintbrush, career as painting, career as artist’s patron, and career as artist’s model. By internalizing these four metaphors for career-creative harmony, you can visualize and craft your career and creative endeavors in a powerful and complementary way to ensure yourself a life of career-creative harmony and zest. Industrial blowers are mainly used to circulate the movement of air and gas in ventilation applications. Their main function is to replace impure or contaminated air with fresh air by swirling it around. Almost every industry, including agricultural, chemical, medical, oil and gas, automotive, food processing, mining and construction use blowers for different purposes such as drying, reducing heat levels, reducing smoke and odors, processing and controlling gaseous fumes. Industrial blowers are manufactured using a range of durable plastics and metals, or a combination of both materials. For example, industrial blowers operating in corrosive environments are usually made of polypropylene because it provides greater structural integrity and corrosion resistance, and will never de-laminate. Typical recommendations in the construction of industrial blowers are - fiberglass for temperatures above 220 degrees, and metal if pressure is above 10 w.g. (water gage). The size of the blower may be regulated by the size of the environment in which it is to be operated. For instance, some units are big enough to house both the fan and its power supply. Smaller, portable blowers are mainly used for cleanups and in spaces that require temporary circulation or air transfer. The air movement and control association recognizes three classes of industrial blowers, classified with numerical designation that is based on how the fan is constructed. The United States’ specifications for industrial blowers depend on the airflow in CFM (cubic feet per minute), static pressure in inches, water gage, altitude and approximate air temperature. Here’s an example: Air conditioning can often become too large of an expense for industrial areas, but the good news is that an industrial fan can bring some much needed relief in this case. Industrial electric fans can be quite helpful for places where heat stratification, dampness, and stagnant air become frequent problems. Also, for high static pressure an industrial fan is what you need. Also known as an industrial electric blower, these units replace air as well by blowing out the old and stagnant air for a wide area that otherwise would collect this air without replenishing it in entirety. Industrial fans also are helpful in removing pollutants like dust and metal particles, carbon monoxide, nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxide, sulfuric acid, and hydrocarbon solvents. Plus, industrial electric fans clearly do not use as much electricity as an air conditioner, circulating air and cooling it at a fast rate for a large space. With high-powered, energy-efficient motors, the larger motor of an industrial fan is actually guaranteed to save energy costs. Canada Blower Co. is a supplier of blowers and fan for Pulp and Paper Industries. Tough applications mean tough fans and blowers by Canada Blower. Canada Blower is a world wide distributor of industrial process ans OEM fans and blowers, as well as fan / blower components; including high pressure blowers, high temperature fans, spark resistant and explosion proof ventilators, tubeaxial and vaneaxial high pressure ventilators. High-efficiency impellers result in low power consumption, operating costs, and quieter operation. All metal hardware is completely sealed from exposure to corrosion by incapsulating into FRP or plastic; the steel support frame and motor base are powder coated with a corrosion-resistant finish. As article marketers, there is always a need for us to write fresh content. The trouble is that more than often, we ‘run’ out of steam. Have it ever happened to you? Most article writers I know make the mistake of writing articles based on the market needs, not on their personal passion. This is what I term, writing on obligation. The problem with this approach is soon enough, you’ll find yourself running out of steam and giving up writing altogether. Of course with that said, it does not mean you should ignore the needs of the market and write what you want to write. You must also consider writing articles that people wants to read. Know what I mean? The bottomline is to strike a balance between your passion and ‘obligation’. You see, when you are passionate about your topic, you can talk about it endlessly with your friends. Ideas come easily and quickly and in less than an hour, you’ll probably churn out twice more articles than you usually can do in one sitting. I’ve never heard of people becoming successful writing books, articles or magazines they do not have an interest in. When you write an article based on obligation, your readers can tell the difference. You sound incongruent - that you’re saying something that contradicts your previous points - you give merely sufficient examples just to stuff up your articles. All these subconscious signs you send out through writing your article by force keeps your readers away. Research the ‘hot’ topics in your industry and write on those that interests you the most. The key is to enjoy what you write and write what you enjoy. Only then can you give your best in writing your articles and giving the most value to your readers. In fact, this is one of my keys to writing articles. Promise yourself never to write another article unless you enjoy writing it. Only then will you last long enough to see the results from your article marketing journey. Like what you read? Listen. I’ve compiled a report, Three-Step Article Marketing Secret Blueprint, specially for my valued visitors (You). You won’t get this guide anywhere else. The reason for this is simple: you want to get your prospects to read your sales letter from top to bottom, keep their focus on your words and make the decision to buy your product right there and then without having to click away to another page to find out more info. Nothing should be there to distract them, everything should lead to one goal only and that is to have your prospects BUY your product. If you haven’t achieved that by the time they get to the bottom of your page there are no second chances, you’ve lost them - never to return! If this happens regularly, then you have some work to do. Maybe your headline is not strong enough or you you need to rewrite your copy - make it flow more or if necessary make it longer or shorter. If you need to, add some more testimonials or emphasize the value of the benefits to your prospect, change the style of your words a little - in short do whatever you have to, can visit .killer-sales-letters.com to get the buy impulse into your prospect from one page only! I am often asked “How long should my sales letter be?” The simple answer is as long as it needs to be to get the sale - No longer and no shorter. Any Other Links? Generally speaking, the ONLY link on your page is the link to the Pay Button, there should be no other links in your sales letter. This is such an important key to success for the same reasons as restricting your sales letter to one page only - to FOCUS your prospects mind on your words and entice him/her to buy your product! That means: no links to About Me, F.A.Q., Sitemap, or even Page 2, definitely no advertisements (banner ads, Google Adsense and the like) on your sales letter, either. If you need to have a FAQ page attached to your sales letter this means that your sales copy is not doing its job properly. Any questions that your prospect may have about your product or offer should be addressed in the copy proper. So take a little more time to get into the mind of your customer and imagine the questions he may have about your product then answer those powerfully when you write. If you have problems thinking up some questions a prospect may have, give your product to friends or acquaintances to try and get their input. Alternatively, if developing your own products, you might want to consider driving traffic to a short survey page where you ask people for their input in return for a substantial discount or free bonus. You could form a question like: A spin off to this is that you can capture an email address for your list and have some ready customers on launch day, you can check it out from .web-sales-letter-supreme.com as well as knowing that what you’ve developed is what the market wants. Testimonial links. I often see sales letters that have a great testimonial included, but at the end of the testimonial there is a hyperlinked URL inviting the reader to click and see what else the testimonial giver has said. Just think for a minute what will happen to your reader in this case, he’s focused on your story and has seen the benefits of your product backed up by the testimonial. Then he notices the hyperlink at the end of the testimonial, so he thinks to himself “let’s just see what else ‘Joe Boggs’ has to say”.
